I see that many would-be furries are simply resorting to the option of "cat" as their chosen species. I think this speaks to a moral weakness and creative deadening that YOU, sushi, must address. What are some creative species for fursonae that you think are overlooked? What species is YOUR fursona?

my fake internet boyfriend doesn't have a fursona. the lynx i drew in >>1733 was originally for him based off of a really rough old drawing he did but i got really attached and now its mine

You don't have to be a regular red fox or gray fox. There's other less common foxes like the fennec fox.

Let's post our favourite movie of all time or a great movie you recently watched.

I'll start.

My favourite movie is Kubrick's Dr. Strangelove. The movie is amazing, very funny while maintaining the seriousness of the topic. [spoiler]The Coca-Cola part is fantastic[/spoiler].

Another movie that also really like is Persepolis (yeah, I'm reposting from the .tokyo thread). It's an animation film that tells the story of the author during and after the Islamic revolution. The art is quite unique and the main character is lovely!

Current favorite kino - there's a lot of movies I can say are better, but this one is my personal favorite. I find the editing unlike any other movie I've ever watched, not just in form but in it's unique relationship to the narrative, themes, etc. Starring and (nicely) scored by it's director who's a douchebag allegedly. It's Eternal Sunshine for schizophrenics.

Crossing out Alice (1988) from the list. It was seriously the best. Coming in with no expectations, I was thrilled by the beautiful, perfectly dreamlike way the film animates the terrifying corpse wonderland. The grotesque flying hospital bed is something straight out of a Silent Hill game. Watching a brave child interact with this horrific, surreal world was wonderful - I loved the movie.

Just found these adorable boots for $10 at a local thrift shop. I have wide feet, so it's hard to find nice boots that fit me. Anyone else do thrifting? I find it a a great way to get great outfits without breaking the bank.

Sometimes I thrift for old technology and I repair it but not so much for clothes. I did thrift for a shoulderbag that I still use, excellent quality and resistance despite being very used by the time I got it. Love the thing and it fits my religious texts perfectly in width and length.

ITT we learn about exactly how stuff looks and capture the contours of interesting objects.

To start us off,
~~I have been doodling flowers for years in order to send unsolicited romantic inquiries on Valentine's day.~~ I think flowers are very elegant and very challenging to capture. They have a lot of nuance to their shape, a good deal of variation from specimen to specimen, and nailing both perspective and lighting is key to making them "pop". They are a good challenge for the amateur sushisketchers. Here's some stuff I found about the main types of roses.
Hint: high centered hybrid tea roses are the most aesthetic ~~and definitely the best for sending to women~~ but most flowers have fans somewhere and a niche where they look appropriate.

Some of the better roses I have sketched. I’m usually just doing these in 30 minutes while im doing reports and stuff so i just use pen instead of artists pencils. I have a set lying around at home but I cant find them right now : (
But ink on paper is a neat medium in its own right.
