Effective immediately: AI images are banned.

We have been getting a flood of low quality AI images on multiple boards that are excessively clogging several threads. We have been lenient in the past but it has gotten to be too much and nobody wants to see the recent posts flooded with AI. Sushichan is not the place for this, especially if you're going to only minimally interact with threads to post AI images.

Users can feel free to discuss this rule change in the replies to this thread but as of right now we are taking a hard stance against AI images on Sushichan.

I didn't think to vocalise a reaction back when this was recent, but I'll say something now. I really appreciate this rule change, albeit for my own reasons.
I'm a Christian, and the person that was posting a lot of AI images on this website was posting predominantly "gooner bait", if I may use that lingo. I slightly felt that I couldn't justify coming here because of the exposure to sexually enticing materials that would come with the experience. I'm not really all that concerned about AI images, but there really was this one guy posting all sorts of AI pictures of 2B and Chun-Li (I would see the exact same images on Lainchan) and it was just unnecessary, so I'm glad that that's gone. If AI's going to be used like that, I'm glad it's gone.

I've just been quietly fist-pumping about this decision in my heart for some months now. Only now am I saying something. So yeah, those are my thoughts. Good riddance!

It does feel like you need a lot of common ground to find a casual friendship on these sites. It's structured so you can make friends through consuming media/playing games you enjoy together but these relationships can feel confined to whatever activity you have in common. When you no longer engage in the same things, communication with them usually ends up pretty shallow. I think this is partly the fault of the culture on the site, and partly the fault of how it's designed in the first place.

Maybe this is just me but I feel like IRL friends don't really have as much in common.
I've had many friends I was nothing like and we got along fine.
We didn't need to play the same games to justify talking, we liked or tolerated each other enough to start conversation for no reason.
Though, I have also had the experience you describe too and it can be very lonely.
I just generally feel even more disconnected when I try to make friends online.

I think you can have broader interests with IRL friends but it's still common interests.
Going to the gym, barhopping, sports, politics, etc. Or if you're in a communal living or working environment you might be friends just because you see each other all the time even if your outside interests are different.

Safe space is such a derogatory term.
I'd rather call them, "noiseless rooms".
The more noise a room has, the harder it is for the main subject to be discussed, and earnest discussion to be had.
The folks inside that room can make an agreement whether newcomers can do some noise or not, but it shouldn't be on the detriment of the whole in the end. It's an agreement they should take upon.
Allowing external forces to modify the status quo, despite them being on the minority, and not being core to the group's beliefs, isn't the best thing to do, if the original purpose of the room wants to be maintained.
So yeah, bad term.

What helps you relax or calm down?

Over the years I've noticed that no matter how distressed or anxious I am as soon as I just sit down under the Sun for a while and listen to some instrumental music consciously I get calm enough to think clearly or even take a nap. And removing shoes is a must to reach peak comfiness for me.
