It's creepy af, hearing someone do hush-hush so close to the mic. Kind of gross, too.

>>15214It's no much grosser than porn really.

I like non-vocal ASMR sometimes. I hate vocal, makes me feel squick.
No.15218
>>15215i find the veiled sexuality/eroticism of stuff like this more gross than 'porn'.
porn is open and honest about what it is and what it's for, where stuff like this stuff is not. it's closeted. it lives in sfw spaces where you know people are jerkin' off to it. Which is part of the appeal i imagine.
not saying there is any issue with asmr being gross, porn is too, it all is–sex & gross go hand in hand~

>>15218It is a good coping mechanism. Some times I feel like there is no one for me, ASMR is a nice method to relieve stress and be at peace, even if it's all manufactured.
Yes there is people who may see it as erotic, but there is crazy things people find erotic on the internet, this isn't that bad really

When I think of "ASMR," I mostly think of recordings of things like mechanical keyboards clacking, or fountain pens writing. I do find these sounds to be rather soothing, but you folks seem to be talking about something very different. Either that, or there's a non-insignificant number of people who think that mechanical keyboard sounds are particularly sexual.

i just get horny when listening to it practically all the time
it also gives me chills and goosebumps and all kinds of weird feelings
i don't really listen to it because i am never in the mood i guess

It depends. I struggle with pathological anxiety, with it exacerbated at night when I'm tired. So I play it more as relaxing noise to distract myself. It's never anything creepy or erotic, it's usually Tolkien or video game lore.

I prefer going to sleep to stories.
As for NSFW female stuff it only reminds me of what I don't have and I have no intention to engage in parasocial fantasies

It's nice you can enjoy these things. ASMR gives me the ick. I don't really like the close sounds of a person talking and ASMR sounds in general annoy me.

I like male stuff.. there's one where you're a kidnapped sho and he whispers to you the whole time.

asmr to me is an art form, it expresses a lot of diff human emotions and feelings in a soothing way, like getting whispered a lullaby. and i cant imagine myself watching those rp videos if they were not in asmr, the asmr part makes it enjoyable and easier to immerse

I listen to white noise to sleep. Does that count as ASMR?

Asmr good weird normie horny whispering bad
Asmr is like dragging a stick along some old books or putting together a wooden puzzle. That's the good shit I love that
When it's just someone whispering and drooling in my ear it's just weird

>>15213I personally hold ASMR in contempt. I believe it to be something for shamelessly lonely people, something they can use to simulate intimacy. Now, I know that I'm not exactly one of life's winners, but I have abstained from ASMR content after all these years simply out of pride. I refuse to stoop so low.
For me, using ASMR is like buying a dakimakura. Like, it's like, you've truly, in your heart of hearts, you've given up.
…It's perhaps inappropriate for someone with views such as this to be posting on an imageboard. Nonetheless, ASMR is beyond my comfort zone.
But you know, if ASMR has helped you out so much, maybe I should be open to it. I have anxiety issues, and maybe it can help.
So, mixed feelings. I'm judgmental, but I acknowledge that it may be beneficial.

I'm gonna' go listen to my controlling boyfriend ASMR until I forget I read this post.

i experiment with a lot of stuff like ASMR, meditation, nervous-system therapy, hypnosis, astral projection (lol)… i have an uncanny fascination with random niche disciplines and ASMR is just for some reason something that has never done anything for me but i have certainly have tried to give it a shot.
i listen to a lot of lectures…i guess ASMR lectures would be pretty cool

>>23891im not sure how listening to a wooden stick rub against an old book is "simulating intimacy" unless you're getting over the loss of your librarian ex-wife or something.
i think at best it's simulating the stimuli of reading a really really old book and enhancing it through the power of modern recording devices.

>>23905Okay. You've changed my opinion regarding ASMR. It can be acceptable to engage in. Thank you for implicitly explaining that other post that you referred me too as well as I didn't quite understand what it meant when I had initially read it. I didn't realise that he's not being metaphorical about the stick being dragged across the book.
