Have you had surreal experiences? What were they?

July 4th a few years ago. My friends and I had just wrapped up a party, and we went back to my place to crash until we could all find rides home. Behind my home was a park, so we decided to take a walk after dark. What we didn't realize is that the rapid drop in temperature had caused a very thick fog cloud to descend on the park. We walked along the trail, but if any one member of our group walked more than 5m ahead, they disappeared into the fog. A few times, we had to call out to find each other.

We walked for about a kilometer, at which point we reached a pavilion at the center of the park. We decided to sit down, but we didn't realized until we got very close that there were two people standing in the pavilion looking at us. We saw them as just two silhouettes, and we froze, absolutely terrified. Until one of them called out, "want a beer?"

And of course, being young people with 0 self-preservation instincts, we said "fuck yea". And so we sat down, had a couple of beers, and then ran around the park playset like children. And we didn't get murdered, the two guys were just genuine bros.

What is a surreal experience?

 No.24118

The weather experience of one of the posters reminds me of my own weather-related surreal experience.

I was in Africa, visiting family. My mom thought it was a good idea for me to stay abroad for a while because it may assist with my mental health recovery. So, what was originally a two-week stay with my mother, turned into a three-month solo stay (she returned independently, I would later also return independently, which was a big first for me! Flying solo!).

On the last day, the evening of my final day in Africa, something strange happened to the air and the colour of the light in the environment. We were outside, and something happened to the air. The air seemed, perhaps thicker? And the colour of the light shifted strangely, it had more of a yellow to it than normal. I don't recall it clearly, but it was a strange experience. It was as if the environment itself was saying goodbye to me in some way as I was leaving.

Ah! It always bothered me that I couldn't think of something surreal without being inspired by the weather-related story of that other poster. Now I've remembered something!

So, as a child, I prayed for Tomb Raider 2 to God. Then, the next morning, the disc for Tomb Raider 2 was right there in the middle of my floor on the ground. I don't know if I'm misremembering this event, but I'm pretty sure this is literally what happened.

>Have you had surreal experiences?

I've had a couple that will probably be very retalable to most people, but probably not THAT interesting; I'll share them with you sushis anyways

When I was a child, I subconsciously developed a very weird and honestly foked up coping mechanism. I started hearing a creepy voice whispering in my ear everytime I tried to sleep alone without any substantial stimuli (Like a TV turned on, for example)

My theory when looking back at it, is that I was trying to get my mom's attention by any means neccesary, and so, my brain developed a problem that I couldn't solve without her help

After a lot of arguments and back and forth, my mom finally started to take the problem seriously and sent me to a psychologist, which helped me a lot, until the voices dissapeared

Anyways, that surreal experience was frogging depressing and goes to show how attention starved I was as a child. This next one I'm about the talk about is way more lighthearted and simple

It seems to be really common for the world to feel DIFFERENT in a sort of majestic way whenever one has to present an important test without having studied jackshiet. All sushis will probably know what I mean

The sky suddenly looks beautiful, the streets get empty and you realize just how insignificant the test actually is; theres a whole world out there that is waiting to comfort you If you end up failing

I want to believe that this is a collective human experience and not something that only I have experienced

I once saw a ghost kid staring at me from the hallway while I was doing homework as a teen. I looked away and looked back at him and he was still there. Dunno what that was about.

My dreams are always surreal. It's very strange.
