if everything else fails try using winboat, its virtualization sure, but it integrates nicely and it just works, would reccomend trying using wine or bottles first tho

rpgmaker may work fine using something like wine. also i saw this thing called mdengine that lets you make games for the sega genesis and it looks similar to gb studio.
