A custom version of a white russian he calls "white girl russian" that uses white chocolate liquor and some other stuff. I'm not a bartender so I wouldn't know how to describe the ingredients but its one of the best drinks I ever had and goes down smoothly. He made the name based off when we were in a bar and some plastered white girl kept asking me for a vape and following me incessantly which we thought was funny and called the event "white girl wasted". My friends and I use that term whenever we are getting drunk and being incredibly stupid.

I went to a bar last night. Had a Negroni. Was good enough to get smashed and talk to a girl through the night. Thought we had a good time and exchanged numbers.
Sadly easy come easy go. She is not interested.

Well, it's been some time since my last cocktail. I've been picking up overtime, so I rarely have the time and energy to make something nice, and usually just end up pouring tequila over ice. But I found the want for it tonight.

The Fringe Weaver is a riff on the whisky highball masquerading as a martini. It hides in a martini stem, it covers itself in citrus twists, and freshens up with a slash of vermouth too tiny for most to detect. But make no mistake, at its core, it's whisky and soda. It has a nice apple aftertaste, but it's really just a perfumed highball. The oranges I used were a bit out of date, so the twists sagged a bit instead of peeking up and out of the glass. So my presentation could definitely use some work. But it was a fine drink, and I'd make again if I ever keep any apple juice in my fridge.

ask them on a date. if they say no give them some space and then ask if they want to hang out with you and your friends. that way if they arent interested in you then you can reaffirm that you are okay with that and still want them in your life platonicly.

I can't be the only one who likes to study and learn around here.
What do you study? What topics do you care about but don't get the time to do it? Are you self taught?
People who study just to pass a test are welcome, too, but that is not the theme of this thread.

I myself have been interested in ancient languages, and right now I am starting to learn ancient Greek, though as they say, it's all Greek to me.
I have other interests like astronomy, but really, I'm over my head with my current studies. I've also been learning some chemistry.

What was wrong with me then? It's been another 5-6 months, and I passed a certification. I also spent another month training for the Network+ certification and I'm going to try beating the test on the 3rd of February. I have pretty low hopes, though. The test itself was really cheap compared to the A+, which was 500 dollars. Only 178 this time. I should probably start setting up a lab to get better on the hands on stuff. Also, I never found that geography site I used, but I did in fact read more political theory. I find my grasp of South America is pretty bad as well as Europe. I still have much to learn. I think I want to read a book a month.

i dont think im capable of learning anymore tbh. i never get good at anything no matter how hard i try. i think im disabled. trying to learn now just makes me want to kill myself when i make no progress. the few things ive managed to get good at are highly social things and those never last long enough for it to be worth it. skills only valued in social settings are pretty worthless if nobody wants you in social settings.

What does sushi think of ASMR?
I find it helps me a lot going to bed and even after waking up. The former is great for insomnia, the second one is great to get out of bed. Makes me feel like a caring person can really fix things as long as it all works out.

i experiment with a lot of stuff like ASMR, meditation, nervous-system therapy, hypnosis, astral projection (lol)… i have an uncanny fascination with random niche disciplines and ASMR is just for some reason something that has never done anything for me but i have certainly have tried to give it a shot.

i listen to a lot of lectures…i guess ASMR lectures would be pretty cool

im not sure how listening to a wooden stick rub against an old book is "simulating intimacy" unless you're getting over the loss of your librarian ex-wife or something.

i think at best it's simulating the stimuli of reading a really really old book and enhancing it through the power of modern recording devices.

Okay. You've changed my opinion regarding ASMR. It can be acceptable to engage in. Thank you for implicitly explaining that other post that you referred me too as well as I didn't quite understand what it meant when I had initially read it. I didn't realise that he's not being metaphorical about the stick being dragged across the book.

i find it fascinating how many people respond to the notion as if what is being asked is to never ever be challenged on anything in any way shape or way form

when it's more like "there should exist at least a few spaces where certain issues can be discussed without interference from people who have zero experience or knowledge about those issues but still love to hear themselves talk"

 No.23803

what >>23802 said.

And there's all kinds of gated communities that enforce standards among their members, "safe space" is just code for progressive/agnostic ones. There's plenty of religious or "traditional values" organizations that are the same types of spaces for different groups of people.

 No.23805

There are multiple ways to interpret it, you don't decide the only valid way it should be "more like".
The other interpretations aren't wrong just for not being the same as yours.

I got nothing to do rn while waiting, so hear me out
my (un)informed opinion on safe spaces, in a social context, is that they just naturally happen. be it within the comfort of your house with a confident, or at the gym, or at a book club. They kinda just happen and I believe is a normal part of a person's environment. Really they serve as a place to explore things without the fear of stigmas.

Approaching the topic with the assumption that OP heard the following; You likely heard the term used online within a negative connotation. As this thing that "REAL MEN don't need!". To me it sounds like code for "Don't go out of your comfort zone! Don't change your views!". I believe this, because I believe safe spaces are integral in the development of a person. To commit mistakes and properly learn from them without the fear of destroying your reputation. Without safe spaces, a person tries to limit those risks, therefor not changing themselves much. You also become very malleable so that you can comply to the views of whoever imposes themselves onto you. I go so far as to say that the notion that "safe spaces are bad" contributed heavily to the insecurities many are facing now. The people that subscribed to that idea are actively avoiding exploring themselves. Exploration of the self is a very important part to gaining self confidence. The more you know about yourself, and your limits, and reinforce your beliefs thru friendly challenge, the more you steel your identity, which makes you more confident. Knowledge is power, afterall.

That being said, I don't believe one can really avoid a safe space. safe spaces just happens. going out to fish with the homies and shoot the shit. going out with the girls to check out new outfits. going to the club with your fellow fags. sharing opinions on the news with like-minded individuals.
Really the only way to not interact with a safe space is to surround yourself with people you don't trust and/or shut yourself from the unknown and the outside (digital or real).

 No.23910

>>23801
i think this highlights the differences between safe spaces that I think are healthy vs not.

i support and cherish "sanctuary" safe spaces, places that don't exist to pull you away from the world, but rather to give you a moment of reprieve from it. Spaces like this should encourage people to leave and return again when needed, offering support to better face the world when they leave.

The other kind of safe space i think of as "escape" safe spaces. these spaces exist with the exact opposite of sanctuaries, with the mindset of "i dont have to learn how to survive because i will have my safe space to retreat to"

I got a cheap 3d printer (200 bucks) and it's been great. Learning CAD is fun, but I get a ton of mileage out of existing models too. There's basically no end of practical stuff you can find and print to make life a little easier here and there and each costs just a buck or two instead of 20.
It's also very cool to have it working away building something in the corner of the office like a little sci fi materializer.

Wanna play shiritori? I was thinking since we're in english we could play using the last syllable of the word, rather than just last letter. So for "bunny" it sounds like "bun-nee" so you could respond "needle".
More by sound then spelling. And no one syllable words I guess?
Does that make sense? Anyway, I'll start:
