Hygiene is important sushis. Bathing is healthy for mind and body. Cleanliness is spiritually important. It relieves pain and stress and is super comfy. Who doesn't love a bathhouse episode? But what's the correct technique for bathing? Getting inside a warm tub and staring at the ceiling? Going to the sento with your friends and lewding random strangers before stealing the girls pantsu? We can't all afford to go to public bathouses, onsens, and hammams, many countries don't even have them anymore, but many of us have bath tubs at home. If not, you'll have to brave your local bathhouse which may be filled with pervy old men or toxic mold or both. So let's share some comfy tips for bath time.

A good bath should involve preparation of the body, scrubbing, soaping, and soaking. Okay. Here's the shitty method I threw together. Feel free to harshly attack me.

Step 1. Prepare the body. You wanna slowly expose your body to heat and gradually induce some sweating. Exactly how you should do this depends on the equipment you have available. Use the tub to generate steam. Sit in a warm room. Whatever. Just make sure you sweat.
Step 2. Massage the body. This one is tricky if you're on your own but much easier if you're at a public bath or some equivalent. Just make sure you've let your body sweat out the bad stuff beforehand.
Step 3. Exfoliation. Traditionally, a glove made from camel hair is used. These are hard to get so find a comfy substitute, nothing to harsh. Begin gently scrubbing the body. Do not peel your skin off. Be gentle.
Step 4. Get a lump of soap, preferably Nablusi or Aleppo soap (these have been hard to get due to uncomfy political reasons so use Castille soap if you can). Soap the entire body, gentely massage the stuff in.
Step 5. Get in the tub and soak for as long as you like.
Step 6. When you're done, rinse, then apply soap and rinse with warm water again. Some people say the final rinse should be cold water. Its really up to you but I prefer warm.
Step 7. Get in a comfy gown and relax in a room with moderate temperature, sit in comfort but don't wrap yourself up to let the body breathe. Let your body cool down. Take the time to enjoy some tea and snacks. Don't consume anything too cold like ice cream.

This entire process is probably wrong but whatever. I did my best with what I had. My tub will never be as good as an onsen etc. fuck it. I'm gonna go suicide for posting this by tossing the toPost too long. Click here to view the full text.

i loved the onsen when i was visiting japan!

we went to the ito k's house which had private mini-onsens which was really nice cos im super insecure about my body QwQ

the water was so relaxing. i went into the big public one once when there were no people and there were cool shisa heads delivering the water! i wish we had bathhouses in australia. a steamy soak is exactly what you need after a miserable summer's day, but i bet there would be loads of pervs and creepy old guys… ;_; plus everyone here is fat and i dont want to look at fat people when im trying to relax!!!! bhnuiangvjsbv

sorry that was cruel but anyway onsen super cool, i would love to revisit sometime. our bathroom at home is pretty grubby…

That was a waste of time but the patriots lost so thats good. But I'm reminded why I don't like football the entire way throughout: shits rigged as fuck. Even in the last quarter they called how many fouls on Seahawks? Meanwhile Patriots could hold all day and the refs will suddenly lose their eye sight. That last half of just calling fouls so the lost doesn't look that bad for the patriots is simply pathetic. Everything regarding the NFL just seems designed to sell a team narrative rather than actually letting natural games happen. They learned nothing from the Brady era scandals.

I suppose you mean to prepare a fancy dinner.

I have actually never done this. I have never prepared a fancy dinner for me and another. I wouldn't consider doing it purely on the basis of my lacking cooking skills.
If I could really, really cook though… yeah. Yeah, I would do something nice like this for me and another. :)

I usually prefer a rustic setting, like some stew at a campfire.

What would you serve/order for a fancy dinner?

I'd go with salmon filet, maybe some eggs with caviar, something that is easy to eat without making a mess, but is also somewhat extravagant. Historically seafood has been low class, but with industrialized meat farming it is now comparatively pricey.

I don't have much to say about it. We were teenagers and he was a weirdo gay kid who thought I was a boy. It made me uncomfortable but eventually we came to like each other a lot but my mother didn't like him for more superficial reasons than anything else. We still occasionally talk to one another but there's nothing there anymore.

 No.23590

No such story for me! I'm happy to keep it that way, too. I've spoken with Jesus and he has revealed that my calling is to the Religious Life. According to St. Thomas Aquinas, there's a certain distinction souls have that kept their virginity until death, which likens them to the soul of Christ and Mary. I look forward to keeping my virginity for the rest of eternity. It'll be great!

I have often thought I could use more discipline in my life, perhaps you have too. With the goal of improving discipline, I want to practice with you.

Pick something you cannot now do, and do it. Make a commitment by posting here, set a deadline, and report back after you are done, success or failure. It can be anything at all. Playing a challenging piano piece, getting outside every day, waking up in the morning, running a mile, forgoing your preferred distractions, anything.

Myself, I have trouble sitting still when I meditate. So I commit to sitting completely still for one hour, with a deadline of Wednesday evening. If I so much as move a finger I will reset the clock.

There's two kinds of discipline I am aware of - the discipline to endure a difficult situation to its end (as in sitting still for one hour) and the equally valuable daily discipline of keeping up a good habit whether you desire to do so or not. So keep in mind which kind of discipline you want to practice and go for it. Be bold and become a stronger person!

I think i have a love/hate relationship with my job. I work at an enterprise IT firm and became a salaryman by choice. Now I work even on paid leave, take all night maintenance jobs, say yes to every stupid task. I'd say the money is good for someone as young as me but it has destroyed my soul and body. I lost the last few friends I have, developed chronic back pain and live my "life" just for my job. But hey, the money is good and I can't imagine what would happen to me if I don't have job's task filling my head. Rather not think about it.

I work as a nurse aide in a nursing home. I cannot express to you that I am literally the only man in the building that does nursing. It is one of the most horrid jobs I have ever done besides retail. Not because I have to look at old peoples bodily fluids and clean their poop or whatever it's because the women I work with are horrible needy people that are never satisfied and the women I work with are whiny people that only come to work to gossip and complain. Not to mention being the only man there I am forever the scapegoat and treated as second glass because I am neither gay enough or attractive enough to be awarded any civil decency. Maybe you think that the residents are okay and make up for it. Yes, one or two maybe but mostly they are just as needy and whiny as the kids they complain about. I can tell you first hand that the older generation is just as entitled as they say we are. Now that the demographic is shifting to boomers it is getting much worse. If anyone is to ever recreate the 2001 anthrax scare I will volunteer for quality control. I already have an exit plan.

Do you have faith, sushi?

I have this old memory when I, as a kid, lost a precious toy. Asked God to help me find it, but to no avail. I blamed God for this misfortune and declared that I no longer believe.

Now I would say I am an agnostic, but I think I really want to find God. God, as someone to talk to, to confess to and to find support in. Lately I faced a lot of difficulties and praying helped me. I even made few liabilities, that I now struggle to accomplish.

When things go well I forget about my prayings and obligations, there is that thought that it is all my work and not some old dude above my head. Until now I went by this and it made me feel like a tiny, tiny man.

I really want to believe, but something is stopping me. Please, share something about yourself.

When it comes to my religion, I always discourage people from taking any interest in it. It's been made tragically redundant and alien in a world that seems less and less inclined to tolerate its existence. Unless you're somebody disposessed in some way, you'll never understand it. Christians have their elite intellectuals, their wealthy shills and chruchmen etc. our religion thrives in ghettos, in the barios, on death row, in prisons, and refugee camps. If you're not on the bottom or estranged in some fundamental way, then you'll never understand it except maybe at the abstract academic level.

All the great sages and prophets were displaced in some way. Joseph was sold into slavery, Moses was dumped in a river, Confucius roamed from state to state looking for employment, Laozi fled from civilization. And often the divine (whatever you wanna call it) comes in the form of a stranger, like the burning bush, Gabriel in the cave at Ghar Hira, the schizo Andreyev hallucinating in his gulag cell. Divinity resists everything terrestrial. This is why since ancient times people found God while roaming the desert.

Faith is dead.

We wrestle with the unknown. Socrates was the wisest man in Athens because he did not claim to know. Plato said we can only know truth by our mind and logic and reason, that our sense deceive us. He inspired a generation. Aristotle said we can only know truth by what we can perceive, by our senses. He inspired a generation. These two schools of thought dominated much of Western philosophy (not all of it). Does truth come from our mind or does truth come from our senses? Empiricism and 'Science' changed the game a bit, but truly all of us are damned to ignorance, save those that perhaps the Divine chooses to know certain things. Certainly, we never asked to be born. What came before us appears unknown. Why we exist is more or less unknown. Where we go after death is more or less unknown.

There is plenty of evidence that the supernatural exists. Humans have seen ghosts forever, and thus there may be life after death. Most of human religion talks about a judgment after death about the conduct we took part in during our life. Most religion place a very direct and real emphasis on the conduct of human affairs.

The dogmatism of the religious fundamentalist and the dogmatism of the Atheist, at the end of the day they are the same thing. Dogmatism.

I think the truths are very simple and known in our hearts. We may not know everything but we can cling to hope and good faith, no matter how hideously evil the world will be. Some people are corrupted by the evil world and themselves become evil. It would seem that there is far more suffering in human existence than there are pleasures, and justice is often fleeting.

I have seen evidence in my life of certain things. The evidence of a grand 'Architect' of reality. Lesser supernatural beings. The "Divine Feminine" is a real thing. Probably, then the "Divine Masculine" as well. I have also seen that it is better to do good than to do evil. But I have seen that it is very hard to be good in an evil world. After Pandora opened her box and unleashed all the vices and virtues of life into the world, the last thing left for humans was hope.
