Do you have a neat web community or chat group you'd like to invite people to? Maybe want to drop your messaging handle and strike up some conversations? Do it here.

Chat/community/personal ads are no longer allowed on the rest of the site, except maybe on /hell/.

Important Note: This doesn't mean that you can't talk about communities or chat groups. You could, for example, have a thread where you ask people about web communities they visit. You just can't open your thread with an advertisement.

One post per service please! Duplicate ads may be deleted. This especially includes discord links. To make a permanent discord link, click on instant invite, go to advanced settings, and change the expire time to never. Dead links suck. If your discord link expires, your post will be deleted and you may receive a short warning ban.
New Rule(2/21/25): To avoid spam/bots and potentially illegal content, describe your community briefly, don't just drop the link.

Been thinking about getting into rucking lately. I lift and do cardio at the gym, but I have been just short of my goals for a while, and it looks like I might not hit my annual goals this year. I spoke with my friend who is in the military, and he mentioned that rucking got him well beyond his weight loss goals and built a lot of body mass. Any sushis do exercise, or specifically rucking? I'm wondering if just filling a backpack full of rocks will be sufficient, or if I should use specific materials and equipment.

Nostalgia is strange, if you spend enough time suffering eventually you will feel nostalgic at times for it, even though it was horrible. I no longer trust nostalgia, it's a strange artifact of memory.

It's not that I miss the old days per sé as much as I've never succeeded in finding anything that can replace them. It feels strange and a little unfair that I could find some now-deceased imageboard or make some now-estranged friend however many years ago and that would be the peak of those things for me. I feel like I've tried hard to do new things, but nothing ever works out the way it did so easily in the past and only ends up highlighting what I'm missing, making the nostalgia unbearable. How am I supposed to move forward when every attempt to do so makes me feel unfulfilled and lonely?
Maybe this is just what people mean when they talk about missing the old days.

>Maybe this is just what people mean when they talk about missing the old days.
In many cases I think so. People miss being young, miss being innocent, miss everything being a new experience, miss having no responsibilities, miss being concerned with only simple problems. And so they miss the old days that remind them of those times, even if they weren't particularly good.

I have often thought I could use more discipline in my life, perhaps you have too. With the goal of improving discipline, I want to practice with you.

Pick something you cannot now do, and do it. Make a commitment by posting here, set a deadline, and report back after you are done, success or failure. It can be anything at all. Playing a challenging piano piece, getting outside every day, waking up in the morning, running a mile, forgoing your preferred distractions, anything.

Myself, I have trouble sitting still when I meditate. So I commit to sitting completely still for one hour, with a deadline of Wednesday evening. If I so much as move a finger I will reset the clock.

There's two kinds of discipline I am aware of - the discipline to endure a difficult situation to its end (as in sitting still for one hour) and the equally valuable daily discipline of keeping up a good habit whether you desire to do so or not. So keep in mind which kind of discipline you want to practice and go for it. Be bold and become a stronger person!

Should probably make an effort to sort my room out (and keep the chaos at bay more than a week for once after having done so), get rid of more stuff.
Bought a carpet years ago and I still haven't been able to put it out because I have a bunch of boxes full of miscellaneous thingies and other stuff in the way. No room to use my reading chair either, cause I have to keep the foot rest on top of the chair with the lack of space.

Should also start lifting weights again, have my own cause I invested in a set before prices shot sky high for real iron. Which is also dependent on the room chaos being cleared away, can't get my lift on because with all the stuff in the way. Can't do my exercises properly without a large enough free spot.

I didn't mean to abandon the thread. It just took a bit of a different direction than I had originally intended and I didn't want to rain on everyone's parade and say you're all doing it wrong or something. I had meant to prioritize completing difficult tasks that one doubts they can do or even KNOW they cannot presently do, the goal being not to achieve those tasks so much as strengthen the mind through facing hardship. My challenges so far were relatively small, but they both fit that criteria - though I haven't had the time lately to do more, being bogged down in work stuff and studying.

I will come back to this soon.

What helps you relax or calm down?

Over the years I've noticed that no matter how distressed or anxious I am as soon as I just sit down under the Sun for a while and listen to some instrumental music consciously I get calm enough to think clearly or even take a nap. And removing shoes is a must to reach peak comfiness for me.

Hygiene is important sushis. Bathing is healthy for mind and body. Cleanliness is spiritually important. It relieves pain and stress and is super comfy. Who doesn't love a bathhouse episode? But what's the correct technique for bathing? Getting inside a warm tub and staring at the ceiling? Going to the sento with your friends and lewding random strangers before stealing the girls pantsu? We can't all afford to go to public bathouses, onsens, and hammams, many countries don't even have them anymore, but many of us have bath tubs at home. If not, you'll have to brave your local bathhouse which may be filled with pervy old men or toxic mold or both. So let's share some comfy tips for bath time.

A good bath should involve preparation of the body, scrubbing, soaping, and soaking. Okay. Here's the shitty method I threw together. Feel free to harshly attack me.

Step 1. Prepare the body. You wanna slowly expose your body to heat and gradually induce some sweating. Exactly how you should do this depends on the equipment you have available. Use the tub to generate steam. Sit in a warm room. Whatever. Just make sure you sweat.
Step 2. Massage the body. This one is tricky if you're on your own but much easier if you're at a public bath or some equivalent. Just make sure you've let your body sweat out the bad stuff beforehand.
Step 3. Exfoliation. Traditionally, a glove made from camel hair is used. These are hard to get so find a comfy substitute, nothing to harsh. Begin gently scrubbing the body. Do not peel your skin off. Be gentle.
Step 4. Get a lump of soap, preferably Nablusi or Aleppo soap (these have been hard to get due to uncomfy political reasons so use Castille soap if you can). Soap the entire body, gentely massage the stuff in.
Step 5. Get in the tub and soak for as long as you like.
Step 6. When you're done, rinse, then apply soap and rinse with warm water again. Some people say the final rinse should be cold water. Its really up to you but I prefer warm.
Step 7. Get in a comfy gown and relax in a room with moderate temperature, sit in comfort but don't wrap yourself up to let the body breathe. Let your body cool down. Take the time to enjoy some tea and snacks. Don't consume anything too cold like ice cream.

This entire process is probably wrong but whatever. I did my best with what I had. My tub will never be as good as an onsen etc. fuck it. I'm gonna go suicide for posting this by tossing the toPost too long. Click here to view the full text.
